This one took awhile to finish and has 237 different pieces. I tried to take some pictures to show the depth of this piece because I used a lot of shims and used wood from 2 inches down to 1/2. The face looks blue, but it is really wenge and it is the way the light hit it for the picture. No stains were used to achieve any of the colors for this piece. I really enjoy making more 3D effects for this kind of intarsia because it really brings out this kind of art form. It is 2 1/2 feet tall and 1 1/2 feet wide and 2 inches in depth. It is made out of wenge, black walnut, lace wood, aspen, ebony, blood wood, yellow heart, red heart, cherry, curly maple, and cocobola. I do wish I made the beard a different wood color because people think I was trying to make flames and not a beard. Maybe on the next one.
