Project Information
My local woodworking club is building a chest of 24 drawers, someone already built the walnut chest and volunteers are making drawer fronts. Each drawer front will be unique. There will hopefully be a few from well known woodworkers. The chest of drawers will be auctioned and the money will be used to teach woodworking to wounded soldiers, an ongoing program we offer. This is my contribution, walnut with American holly, padauk, and copper inlay. The holly was harvested from my yard and air dried. The inlay is 1/8" thick. Most of the work was done with hand tools + a drill press and forstner bit to hog out some waste. The figure is a dulcimer. I kept it simple because this is my first inlay.
UPDATE:
The auction will be at the Klingspor Woodworking Extravaganza in Hickory, NC; Oct 18-19, 2013. I don't know which day yet.
