Project Information

I would like to address i did not make the sheath and blade for this Indonesian Kris sword. But i did however make a new handle and decoration piece for the sheath. This project was for a family friend that bought this sword at auction and it was missing the handle (they didn't realize it was also missing a piece on the sheath). I carved the handle out of black walnut because i felt this was the closest i could get to the wood on the sheath. I turned the small "ferrule" on my lathe. I used a dark stain to get the colour i was happy with then rubbed with wax to get the same dull/ waxy look the sheath had. I learnt alot when it came to the carving since this was my real first carving project.

Im very proud of what iv accomplished (when i started it i wasn't sure if i was going to be able to pull it off) I thought id share this with you guys!

Thanks alot! James.

That's quite a knife, and the handle goes well with the rest of it. A great decoration piece.

Yikes! Remind me to never get into a knife fight with an Indonesian. That is one nasty looking weapon.
