Project Information

With this years Christmas coming to an end and being on the verge of 2012….wow….hard to believe, I found a project that sets a positive tone for the upcoming year.

This is my version of an incence holder made from maple stock and finished in oak colored stain. A bit rough here and there (oh those lights and digital cameras!...lol).....but practice and an enjoyment of the process including the imperfections are a good learning experience.

I came up with some lines and set about handcarving those as well as adding the yin and yang symbol to be a message to add more balance to myself, family, friends and work.

This project was a good one, sort of a needed one I must say…to help as a reminder to take some time to care more for myself and others, and slow down the fast pace that our current lifestyles sometimes become….lol

As woodworkers I am sure some of you may have encountered….we are always looking for the next build…that next cool tool to get…that next project to challenge ourselves. Speaking for myself….I look back on many of these projects…and I realize….I need to enjoy the whole process more…..I need to feel more reverence and enjoyment for being able to have the ability and time to learn, work and play.

Everything is totally handmade from saws to sawdust.

Thanks for looking in and thanks for your continued outputs of inspiration!

I hope everyone had a great holiday!

Be well

Joe

Very nice. Brings back ol' memories of "back in the day." You did a great job and I agree with you about the "process."
