does this box have the same finish as your last, yep, it sure is different then the last one, your skills still show, but maybe you just need to lower the price some, but still get paid for your work…

Your skills are evident but the wood just isn't cooperating so much this time. Still impressive but I know how you feel.
Sometimes when you open the present you are over the moon and other times …..... not so much.
Alone, this one would do fine but lined up with your others, ...... I don't know. You will have to make the call.

You are still the king of sculpted boxes.

Greg, my guess is that there are several artists who face the same dilemma. If you like it…keep it. If you don't…let the public decide. Keep boxing and keep posting.

Thanks everyone…

grizzman…this box looks different because I did not put a finish on it. I don't really need to lower the prices because I sold it and the other two Cocobolo boxes I had to a box collector client moments after posting it on Lumberjocks. I always send out emails to my clients after completing each box…

Andy…my customer wanted it unfinished so he could have a variety of finishes.

Paul…the reason I didn't want to take this to the shows was that I liked it…but I ended up selling it and the others just a little while ago.

Greg, I've been watching your work and I think you do fantastic carvings. I am wanting to try this, could you please tell me how long it takes you to do one of these boxes. I'm assuming you use a grinder, do you use the 2" or 4" carving blade and is it fine or coarse grit. I tried the 4" kutzall and had a hard time controlling my cut so I am trying to figure out something I can use as a guide. Maybe it will just take some time for me to learn how to control it better. I am wanting to carve picture frames but want to try a box also. Thanks in advance for your help.

I didn't think that had any finish on it.

Excellent work. Your craftsmanship can bring out a lot of beauty in the wood used but here we have the best of both worlds. Well done. Hopefully the client will want a couple more. Oh no !

The more I look at it, the more I see lots of knots that look smoothed over. Very nice as always Greg.

Greg, That is freaking AWESOME.

Congratulations, and I wouldn't sell it if it was mine.

Bob.
