Project Information

Back story:
A couple years ago a friend gave us this 50 year old wooden dog pull toy he had as a kid. I took it part, reverse designed it and came up with the doxie shown in picture #2.
Then last year, after losing 2 of our dogs in 6 weeks, we had a big hole to fill and adopted Java, shown in picture #1. He was our first German Shepherd, was a steep learning curve, and the inspiration for the German Shepherd variation of the pull toy.

When I finished these in preparation for our 2 day craft fairs this season I couldn't resist taking a picture of our "5 Shepherds"!!!

Thanks for looking.

Nicely done.

I think I have a similar patterns somewhere that came with the pattern book of my first scrollsaw. The one I purchased in the fall of 1953!
Yes, I still have the saw and at least most of the pattern book. Yes, it still works-has run on homemade parts for at least 50 years. No, is not used much! Not good in any wood over 1/2 inch thick! It will do it bit it is like waiting for an honest politician!

A great job engineering your own Shepherd pull toy-even better job adopting Java. Hope everything is going well with the new family member.

Thanks for sharing.
