My shop about 1000 sq. ft in size, and was designed by me when we moved into our new house in 1998. It took about 3 years to build it on a part time basis (after work) putting up the walls, electrical, lighting etc. I have been collecting the woodworking machines that populate it for about 50 years. The oldest machine ia a Walker Turner Scroll Saw from about 1958, while the newest is a Nova Lathe (1624-44) from last year.

Harvey, you have an outstanding shop. it is a wonderful shop space and would be a pleasure for any woodworker to work in it. I would be hard placed to be critical of anything in your shop. it's one of the nicest shops that I've seen and you should be very proud of it.

Welcome to Lumberjocks.

That's what I'm talkin about.
I'm working on a basement shop myself.
It will be about 600 sq.ft. when done.
But I don't think I could ever keep it as neat as yours.
Very Nice Shop!

And welcome to Lumberjocks.

One of the best laid out shops Ive seen yet. I got some good ideas for parking my machines. I really like the angled "parking" of your lathe jointer etc. I'll be looking at trying that with mine .
Well done, and I love a clean shop!

Are you hoarding cut off pieces? :)

Great looking shop! Everything in its place just makes working in it so much more enjoyable without having to search for tools.
I really like the yellow pegboard, everything hung on it really stands out and you can see it from across the shop.

I agree with everybody. This place should be in one of the magazines that highlights well-thought-out, well-laid-out shops.

Fantastic !

Is your flooring linoleum ? Does sawdust make it too slick ??

Come on by my place. I want to lock you in my basement with a big vat of coffee, and make you organize MY shop, too
