Project Information

I finished this build in January 2016 (before discovering LJ). I posted these few pictures on request and to boost my upload quota.

If anyone is interested and familiar with SketchUp, I have the full model imported into a SU model and can provide the link on request. My contact is [email protected]. To wet your appetite, this is the animation of the scenes from the SU model (Hummer Page 00).

I had seen your Hummer on T&J already and he is so incredibly beautiful. All the detail is so minutely and precisely made. GREAT.

Thanks for sharing here at LJ. Keep on going.

It's so purdy I just went and ordered the plans and it's all your fault.
I've liked the looks of these plans from day one, right up there with the caboose on my list for wanting no needing to build.

Thanks for all your kind words. I'll now have to go and give the guy that built it for me a few more shekels…...

Just kidding… but not about the thanks.

Hi Scottie man,
The plans are available from Toy and Joys at $18 US. They charge $11+25% of purchase price (with around 10 days delivery to Australia). You may be able to buy from a Pommie-land retailer/distributor. Personally this is not too severe when you consider the cost of timber now-a-days especially if you use better type timber rather than cheap scraps and of course the cost of the tools used to convert that bit of firewood into a presentation piece. I used walnut and American maple for most of my T&J models.

... I am not familiar with computer drawing packages and just need a few pi…
What I have done is imported JPG scans the plans into SketchUp and "traced" over them to create the model. The plans are in the SU model, however, if you wanted to seriously build a hummer the scans are not very legible. The SketchUp drawing helps me familiarise with the build and gives me a better understanding of the carpentry I'll need to perform. Sketchup is a free piece of software and may look intimidating, however there is a load of tutorials and videos on the Internet to enable you to come to grips with it fairly quickly (as it did with me). Also you don't need to master it's use to view a model. Download the 'MAKE' (free) version of Sketchup 2016. Just install and open the file. Just come to grips with the "pan", "orbit" and zoom commands and you should be ale to navigate.

ALso find the use of the X-ray button to you see the insides.

P.S. Did you notice I pressed the keys on my keyboard while typing, with a Scottish brogue?
