Project Information

So - I wanted to make a few more projects before I tackle my moms buffet table.

I designed my room keeping in mind that my room is very small I needed more storage… so to optimize what I do I have I am building a few pieces… here is the first.

I made this with a power drill, hand router, hand sander, nails, hammer, glue, nail setter, "L" brackets, chisel, and hinges.. I had McCoy's cut the large wood and I cut the shelves, frame, feet with my miter saw. I had a lot of fun with this one!

So I wanted a hope chest a - but after looking at the space - I had to move my bed so the hope chest could double as a table for the chair that is going in the open space, but then I thought - o well why not move the movies and cd's that are currently all in a box, that is always in the way.. so here is the finished product.

There are 6 pieces, the "hope chest / Media rack"

a "chair" I have a very small space and normal chairs take up to much room - but I just might save this one for last just in case I find one to fit…

a full "bookcase" - this is for all of my craft, car, idea books

a "wall desk/storage" - this is for my scrapbooking, sewing, card making, sketching, designing - this one I think is going to be the hard one! To many hobbies to name!

a large "shoe rack" - need it to hold 60+ shoes - I know typical woman… but hey if your tools made you feel as beautiful as my shoes do - then you would want them displayed and protected - o wait - Most of you have them in a designated clean protect spot…

a "light casing" - bought a ceiling fan and it was to big for the room - so the apartments said they would switch it out with one of theirs - well they forgot the light, and so conveniently "ran out", so I bought a raw light and I am going to build a wall sconce. I do have electrical background so this is not an issue, plus It will not be hard wired to the wall - just a plug in…

I know that some may say this is a big order, but I did the chest in one weekend, so if I take one at a time - I should be done in a few months with everything.

Hey, looks like a good start. Now if we can get you a tripod to make the photos of your work better… [grin]

It looks like the finished piece has a panel on the side, but the unfinished piece has a solid wood side. What's the construction detail around that?

I took the pic with my cell phone, =)

I took the unfinished pics, and thought something was missing, so I added a little trim - which is not from a hardware store but hobby lobby in the "framing & woodworking" isle.
