Project Information

Wood And Materials Used
Cherry wood, epoxy resin with white pigment, LED strip lights
Location
Montreal, Quebec, Canada

I've always wanted to make an epoxy & wood honeycomb serving board so I finally did! But of course I had to take it a step further and make it luminescent. Bring on the dinner parties!!

I first batched out about 50 hexagons using my homemade hexagon cutting jig. I build a mold and laid them out in a honeycomb pattern using hot glue and spacers, then poured some epoxy with a little white pigment into the voids to create the honeycomb pattern.

I built a simple base tray with mitered corners and a floating bottom panel. Added the LED strips within. The tray has a very slight lip that creates a cradle for the honeycomb board. As such it can easily be removed to be washed.

If you want to watch the build video for more details you can watch it here.

Damn it MQC, great vid, great topic, great presentation... you seem to be Frenchie (Canadian)... hey respect, as my great predecessors swam to Canada for training... but the rest of the world call them-dere-thingos a cuttin board.
Wotz with the Queen's (OK Charles) English changes (Charcouterie?)... (not just you).

Love your professional presentation (great vid).
