Project Information
Our family loves to read and we have tons of books. I have always wanted to build a ceiling to floor, wall to wall bookcase for this wall. There was one problem, we had a jacket closet offset near the center of the wall. Living in Florida we don't need jackets very often, so I came up with the idea of building a section of the bookcase that would open up to expose the closet. After 5 months of off and on working on the project, we finally completed it. This was my first bookcase project of any size, so I learned a tremendous amount. Every thing that we did was a learning experience. Along with my assistant, every member of our family worked to help complete the bookcases. For the record they are 12'4" long, 8'1" high, and 12" deep. The center section is the only section that is removable. We put casters on the bottom and it rolls in and out of position. Overall I am thrilled with how they turned out, but I'm more proud of the fact that it is another project our family worked on together.
