This small cabinet is made of Honduran Mahogany. It's intended purpose is to be used as an outdoor storage cabinet for garden implements to be kept on my front porch. Each side of the carcass was first Doweled and glued together, and then doweled, glued, and nailed to each other. The handle is Ebony and Lignum Vitae. Since Lignum Vitae doesn't accept glues easily, It is merely held in place by the Ebony pieces. The door panel was "enonized" with spray paint before assembly. The base is Oregon Cedar, which is naturally resistant to decay, henceforth fine for ground contact. I originally intended it as a wall cabinet, but I felt it was too deep for a wall cabinet. It is finished with multiple coats of Tung Oil Finish and Carnuba wax. The door is held in place with magnets.
