Project Information

This is my first try at making a carving knife. The handle is made of walnut and the blade is from a reciprocating saw blade. I have been reading up on the net where others have made them so I thought I would give it a try. I and please with the shape fo the blade and how sharp it is after putting an edge on it. I have a commercial detail knife but wanted a smaller blade. The blade is 3/4" long and the knife is 6 1/2" overall. The handle is simple in design but it fits my hand well and is comfortable. Thanks for looking.

Flint,

I just ground the edge as it and it is sharp. I have been researching heat treating and will try that out as well. I am going to work on one with a much thinner blade too. Thanks.

Nice knife/tool. nice if you can make tools rather than buy makes lumber more affordable.
