Here is a counter top I did for a friend of mine a few years back. It is made from hickory and trimmed in walnut. It looked pretty good in his log cabin.
A great looking counter! Absolutely georgeous. I'm getting ready to start on a very similar project-i.e. to build a counter-top/breakfast bar behind and over my existing counters. (Now I'm really inspired!) Judging from the electrical recepticles in your photos, it appears that your hickory counter sits on top of a short wall behind your cabinets. How did you attach the hickory boards to the wall (or whatever it is) below it?
