Drawer sides have been cut and tomorrow after church is a dovetail day. I should have the two center drawers finished by the end of the day. And there are no "store bought" drawer glides. I'm going to dado the sides of the drawers and run a thingy to guide the drawers.

Anybody know what them drawer guide thingy's are called?

Beautiful coffee table, Obi. What dimensions? I look forward to seeing the completed project.

it's 26" wide 48" long and about 17" tall. I just looked at the pictures I took last night, but the film in my digital camera got exposed… ruined all the pictures… None of them had the right angle and so I'll take some more today after the final coat of lacquer, or tomorrow.

It is Finished. Go here for a bigger picture

I couldn't find the little figure 8 thingies Marc was showing on his podcast and I bought L-brackets but didn't want to use them, so I "settled" for 20 walnut dowels to hold the top on.

And here to see a better view of 8 coats of high gloss lacquer

Looks nice… but now all our old comments don't make any sense! (which is kinda funny)

If you notice Scottie, the comments that don't make sense are everybody else's.

Obi,

That turned out really nice. You could use wood clips to hold the top on also. Like these
They work really well or you can use metal off set clips you can get from a picture frame shop.

Beautiful Obi Nice job. But, they are just sticks, right. But put together in the right combination does wonders.

Thank you everybody for your nice comments and thank you Ethan for the Clips… I wasn't even sure what they were called and I watched Marc using them, but they were not to be found at the big box.

Nice job Obi. Wow, 8 coats of lacquer, that is amazing. Did you spray or brush it on? I have a hard enough time with 3 coats of anything, and sometimes get runs.

I used my airless and only spray it when it's flat, so I try to spray one side then sanding it using (so far) up to 600 grit after it dries. And after I got past the Oil & 150 grit as a finish, my results improved 100%
