Project Information

Recently I came across some video showing different versions of an "illusionist" pendants that fold into a heart shape with two pockets for photos. However, the heart has four chambers so, thinking logically, there should be four places for photos.
So I made my own version out of Zebrawood, with two hidden magnets to "snap" back into the heart shape, and a pivot for rotating the heart in half, and showing places for four photos, in this case two are occupied and two are empty.
I used Tung oil as a finish, made some double sided tap dots to hold the photos, and bought a 1/2" circle punch to punch out photos.
I gave away this first version, planning to make some more and, as we all know, the first one is always the hardest!

The heart is 1-1/4" wide, 1-1/2" tall from very top to bottom point, and 1/2" thick.
The clasp is made out a 1/8" stainless steel and the magnets are K&J Magnetics (5/16" diameter, 1/16" thick, #D51).
The pivot is a snap that allows the front half of the heart to be separated from the back half and snap it back together.

Very nice. I like that you used a snap for the pivot. That is very clever.
