Project Information

This is a Hanukia me and my daughter designed. we used sketchup with splines to get the lines flow.
it is cut with the David (Patron) system, glued with epoxy and finished with Tung oil

Now i have to put on it the candle holders and I have silver and gold. I don't particularly like any of them…. oh well.

Please vote! gold or silver?

I think the approach to the style of the menorah is very original and artistic. I don't like either the shown gold or silver. I think the candle holders ought to be as original as the menorah.

Have to agree, the piece is beautiful and neither color really goes with it.

A wonderful piece. If I have to choose between the two options I'd pick gold

nine work moshel

here is a place for brass candle holders
(or 'cups' as they are called)
those you have are kind of gaudy looking

A most remarkable design, very nice indeed.
I'd vote for neither of the ones shown as I think it needs a much more modern holder. In bronze or stainless steel would be good.

very nice design, If you don't like either the gold or silver go with wood… or keep looking for another metal to use… copper maybe?

Beautiful work.

I dont like either color but would choose gold if I had to take one.

Can you drill into each holder and have the candle sit inside the wood a bit instead? Yeah you would have to clean off the wax, but I think the look would be much cleaner.

Thank you all for your kind words and suggestions. yes, i think the gold is marginally better. As i live in NZ which is not really known for its supply of Hanukia candle holders I would either source some from the place David mentioned or elsewhere. My wife picked up these cheesy ones. on the other hand, she meant them for children craft projects…

Drilling into the wood is not an option - done that once and the wood burned…. In the spirit of the holiday but not very nice.

I like the way the nine "arms" are almost exploding out of the plinth. And that it's offset rather than centred. Little stubby candles just sitting on the tips might be in keeping with the organic nature of the Hanukia.

I like your design and the result I'm glad to read that you take david's advice and let me add one small advice - please choose the most simple form for the candle holder and not the shining material.
