Project Information

Hands down my favorite project of all time!!

My daughter and I built a lemonade stand together.
Simple to make. Cedar fence pickets attached to a frame. We made it so sit on top of a Red Flyer Wagon (I hope I didn't mess up that name) with clips on the bottom so it doesn't fall off. I used some chalk board spray paint and some extra cedar I had laying around to make her menu board. Drilled a hole for the umbrella.

The day this photo was taken she was giving out drinks for donations for "Kids with cancer". 100% her idea. She brought the donation box home from school and knew exactly what she wanted to do. I love this kid!!

I would love to see photos of projects you made with or for your child. Please post a pic or comment below. Thanks!! She is wanting to make something else soon.

Better watch out! In some jurisdictions the authorities are shutting down kiddie run drink stands, in come cases even threatening to fine the "operators" of the "business."

Great project!

Good Luck!

You are correct Herb. What a crappy deal. I feel for the enforcement officers that are told to walk up to a kids stand like this and close them down. (Only if they don't fine me :) Fortunately, our town is swarming with kids with stands and no one has ever had an issue.

Thanks for the comment.
Very important point.

Haven't seen one in a long time. You and your daughter did great. What do they charge for a lemonade these days? I think back in our days it was 5 cents.

She likes to charge a premium price. I'm trying to teach her the value of money so in turn she tries to re-coop the cost of materials in one cup. I told her good luck with that:)

Great project, best kind ever - with children. Creates a bonding, and who knows, she may take up woodworking - and your shop.

Welcome aboard!
What a cool stand, if my daughter sees it I may be adding it to our to do list. The neighborhood kids set up a small stand last year with a table and some chairs, she helped out for short period of time and was paid a part of the profits $2 I believe :). I could see this being popular.

As to pics of kids working with us in the shop, my daughter has a workbench in my shop and we have done a number of things together. It is awesome to spend time with her and teach her skills she will always have.

Look forward to seeing other projects that you guys can work on together.

Hey VCF….that's a great project. I love making things with my kids. I have a son who is at that age of really getting into his skateboarding…..so we decided to make a DIY you-beaut skateboard!!!...he was proud as punch when he told his mates that we (he and dad) made this cool board. ...anyway - a pic or two of the board (and the jig/mould) we used for the hold the gluing laminations…...

awesome work lads!!!...biggest kick I got was when my son remembered back to the time we built his project….we still have fond memories from that time….the board has long gone, but he still has a smile on his face when we talk about it!!
!!....I am sure it will be the same for a lot of folks here….

Great project Scott! I got a kick out of the picture with your son using the drill with bare feet. I have a question about compost bins. My neighbor made a similar bin and placed it in his back yard very close to my shop. do I need to worry about smell when it starts getting hot out? Or worse, like mice. I just had the shop treated for termites and I'm a little paranoid at the moment.
