RG - I followed Hal Taylor's plans. I somewhat documented the process in a lumberjock blog.

Hal sells video's and plans. Well worth the money to me. His documentation is excellent. Here is a link to his plans.

I also noticed that he sells kits for those who don't have the means to get and cut big boards/slabs.

I don't know who Hal Taylor is, but that looks more like a Sam Maloof Design

Hal design is a take-off of Sam's but Hal's is more comfortable imho because the back rest is laminated and it conforms to my back well.

That is just perfect! The wood is beautiful. The joinery gorgeous. And the finish begs to be touched. This is my long term goal: to build one of these. I have the tools and the wood but don't think my skills are up to it yet. I drooled over the one you posted a year ago and am still working towards one.

GF - you told me that last year! I've seen your work and it is definitely good enough to build on of these. It just takes more time to build than most projects.

GF - I seriously recommend the video that Hal makes. It's around 12 hours long. He shows every bit of it and gives detailed instructions. I learned a lot about woodworking from him and the money well spent. He'll even answer your question over the phone!
