Project Information

This is by far my best selling item this year. This is the 4th one I have built since January. I have 2 more to build. It holds 9 rifles. In the bottom is just open shelves. It's 73" tall, 38" wide and 18" deep. Beetle Kill Pine. The last picture is before any finish is put on.

Although I think that this is some of the best I have done so far, I still see many ways to improve. Hopefully the next one will be even better.

Thanks for reading

Looks great, Monte. I've moved to gun safes due to liability issues these days, but really miss a nice gun cabinet. The BKP looks fantastic.

That live edge really sets the cabinet off. Looks good with… and without the finish.

Visually stunning. Possibly adding a keyed lock would increase the safety relating to children? You're doing well sir. Makes me happy to see it.

That's another great piece Monte. Like the live edge. That sure would look good in a hunting lodge. Looks like I see locks on all doors. Good idea there. Keep the honest ones honest.

It's a super nice gun case Monte. That's why you've got a waiting list. Build em, build em, build em.

Great job, Monte! Really like the combo of the live edge and the glass! Almost missed the lock on the top. Thanks for sharing!

The finish is 2 coats of danish oil and about 5 coats of Polyurethane. Finish is still an area I need to improve in.

Nice work and the BKP adds so much to it. Have you got a secret for keeping the bark edge from flaking or breaking off?

A friend of the wife and a member of our church came for a visit and liked my BKP table so much, she wants me to make her a coffee table very similar I'd like to try that when I get some really good Pine. Problem is that this is a very attractive woman in her 40's and unless I read the signals wrong, she would like to pay with something other than cash. Even if I wasn't married, I'm 76 y/o and I'd much rather have the cash than fun and games.

I have given her a price and hope she will take me up on my offer cause I can't take her up on hers. Where were women like this when I was able to use their services?

Another home run Monte. I don't typically like live edge pieces, but it's suits the cabinet perfectly.

Shared with my son who wants to make a gun cabinet - hope he uses yours as a model.
