Project Information

The best protection form people stealing you stuff is for the thief not to know it is there in the first place. This bed did just that. Keep in mind, I don't tell city/state of this customer. It is the customer's design. The headboard lid is removable and exposes a couple trays for hand guns or other valuables. Those trays slide and the shotguns are under them. It can hold 6 shotguns.

It is a platform bed with a custom configuration on the pedestal. We put 4 drawers on each side and a door toward the head.

Quote from the email of the customer: "The bed is absolutely gorgeous!!!! You did a beautiful job. Thank you sooo much."

The customer goes on to say, which I think is funny: "The gun case was supposed to be secret but my husband was so excited, I think he has shared that info with all his friends. He thinks my idea was great. :) I am happy to no longer fight moving guns around in the closet. Keep me in mind when you market this bed to the NRA and other gun organizations and make MILLIONS!"

You did a nice job and it's a very practical way to provide protection for your valuables.

Great idea for storage of anything you value that you want to hide. I also like the idea that your gun is close by your side while you sleep in case of an intruder at night. Sweet!

sleeping with a 12 gauge inches from your head must be like getting a good night hug from Charlton Heston.. ;)

I like to build in hidden compartments as well. However, having the compartment for the guns in the headboard is like a doubly good idea, and I am not a "gun guy" but that is pretty cool and a nice looking project.

This guy work for the mob? LOL
Great place to hide valuables but guns should be locked up. Especially if there are kids in this house. If they have trigger locks then by the time you get the lock undone and the gun loaded well… I think that gives the intruder plenty of time to make a move. Hopefully out the way he came I but he could attack instead. I'd feel better with a good old fashioned Louisville slugger at arms length under my bed.

Great work though Chris. As always.

I think I'm going to pirate your idea, I like it a LOT. I get a kick out of doing hidden compartments and such in things I make. Especially when you can't tell from the outside what is supposed to be there.

Have you anything in place to control humidity in order to prevent rusting, etc?

Great idea well executed!
