Project Information

A few months ago I posted a picture on here of a Greene and Greene inspired hand plane that I designed and built. I decided to go ahead and build a set and finished a few weeks ago but am just getting around to posting on here. The planes all work great and have been fitted with Hock blades. The smoother (the middle one) is my favorite for use but I love the look of the big jointer plane.

I hope you enjoy them.

Those things are great man. I love the design. Build your handplane and greene and greene, I would have sat there for a week figuring out which to build first

Beautiful work! What kind of wood did you make them from?

Thanks for the comments. I love designing new ideas and the planes were a blast.

Hal, the body is Mahogany and the sole, cross pin, wedge, and plugs are Wenge.

I have to say that I can really appreciate the skill that it took to make those. I'm not a big fan of that style - personally - but you have done it well.

I love it when I find work that is outside the box. these HRW designed planes fit that category. Great idea and it takes homemeade palnes a real step up in glamour

They look great and well made but too good to use.
I would keep them on a shelf in the house to be admired.

This is awesome, though I am a bit concerned that you have this kind of time. Those are amazing!

Thank you all very much for the comments! I really appreciate the support.

Kiefer, I may not work then very hard right now but I do love the feel they have against wood and could not bear to have them on a shelf just collecting dust…but probably someday.

Anapolis, thank you many of my friends say the same thing but it is what I enjoy doing and I have a wonderful wife that tolerates my passion.
