Very nice work. Looks like it matches well to the home's trim. The mahogany will darken beautifully over the next few years. Well done!

I enjoy G&G style furniture, as the color contrasting details are a nice blend. Your table meets the historical precedent for G&G, did you design this piece yourself, of find an old plan from an original?
thanks,

Thanks, Guys! I based this one on a project I saw in a magazine. Good old-fashioned joinery and pretty timber. Can't really go wrong ;)

Outstanding! Greeene & Greene is one of my favorite styles. Nice job on the drawer pull and finger joints. I just started working on my first G&G project, a pair of end tables. Is that wainsott your work as well?

Thanks Pete! It was a fun project (and a real pleasure to work with some pretty mahogany)
The wainscot is not my work-just the conservatory I used for the photo's (lots of natural light)
Cheers

very nice table!!!! i have never used linseed oil. how long do you have to wait for the oil to dry before you use shellac? was the shellac brushed or sprayed? is it a durable finish? i have thought about using it but not sure how it holds up. any help would be greatly appretiated.

Phil, I've frequently commented on my admiration for your work. When you show a G & G inspired piece, that's even better. I've been drawn to this style ever since I first discovered it about five years ago. I've incorporated it into a few of my small boxes, but have yet to make a furniture piece in the G & G style.

Very nice work, my friend.

I left the oil overnight to soak in. Then you can apply the shellac. I used a rag and applied numerous coats. It has held up really well as a finish although the table doesn't get heavy use!
Don - thanks for your kind words. I keep thinking about adding similar G+G accents in my other projects. One day!
Karson - I hope to make a table - all depends on how much time I can squeeze out ;)
Cheers

Saw this on Shuffle. What a great table. Hopefully we will start seeing you around every now and then. Have things settled down any?

What a great looking table Philip. How did you get the shellac to have that shiny finish on top?

The new homepage system brought this to my attention again. You did a great job as usual. I think after building my own G & G side table, I appreciate this one even more than when I seen it the first time.

It is a great project and I hope you post some more of your projects here.

Oh and Phil, Congradulations on being published in the Woodworker Magazine. I had a friend in the UK send me the July issue. I will have to bug him for the other 3.

Thanks Gents - very kind!
Work has been keeping me away from the workshop (and this site) I'll be back soon - thanks for your concerns.

Dick, thanks for bumping Phil's table to the top. I, too, forgot just how special this project was. I believe Phil is amongst our top cabinet makers at LJ's. It will be nice to see him post some more of his work.
