Project Information

So excited to have completed these canoe paddles! I made these with maple, walnut, western red cedar, white birch, and coastal redwood (sourced from an older gentleman that had been holding onto it since the late 1960's!). These double bent-shaft paddles are gifts for my 6 and 3 year old boys. I'm so fortunate to have such amazing kids to share my passions, our collective wilderness, and the wonders of this world with. These will provide them with the means to explore, inquire, discover and learn as they grow into young men! What better gift for me to give to my kids!! The last photo is my youngest getting excited to use his new paddle!

Really nice-curious-do you lay up laminates for the bent shaft? Or do you steam bend? Or just bandsaw out the curves?
