Project Information

I made these Children's rockers from purchased plans & gave it a bit of extra by hand carving their names on the back. It started out as two rockers for my grandsons… Then my eldest daughter wanted a couple for her friend's kids… Then daughter #2 wanted a couple for her husband's nieces… Then etc. etc… I'm sure you've all been there too! It's part of the fun of woodworking.

Frank,

This is a great post. Our skills as woodworkers are a gift. What better way of showing appreciation for this gift than to share our talents with family and friends.

You did well here.
Thanks for the post.

MsDebbieP…

Yes, I "sign" all my work with the brand that is on the icon that you see by my name.

LJ sure is a neat place… Everyone is interested & interesting & No one is affraid to share their tips & methods. This positively has to be one of the best places to go on all the NET.

Frank, you've got my attention with those rockers! Where can we get the plans? I'd like to build a few. Thanks!

Randy… I searched for the plans on the NET & can't seem to find them anywhere now… If you send me your mailing address I'll make you some full size paterns off of the templates I made & mail them to you. The chair sides, seat & back are made from 1X12s & the rockers are made from 2X6s. The pieces are wider than a 1X12 so there is some gluing involved… That is unless you want to spend more for wood that is wider. I also found some good clear 2X10s real cheap at Lowes & ripped then down for the rockers. So as you can see there are lots of options in the wood that you can use.

By the way…. I now have 6 more of these rockers in progress & 4 of them are already "claimed" by someone.

These are so much like two that I built for my two daughters around 30 years ago. They loved theirs then just as much as your grandchildren love the ones that you have built for them now. You have done an excellent job on those chairs. Thanks for posting this.
