Project Information

Logger & tree topper with a sawmill, great combination. He has many fine stacks of big slabs including maple, walnut, cedar and mostly Douglas Fir. I trade him work for the right to raid the slash pile. Always some large pieces for table tops & such. My latest project is a rustic fence, now it's time to let the wood speak to me for the design. What size and or look can I get from what is available, but that will be on a later post. For now drool at the piles of fresh cut seasoned boards & wide planks waiting for…?

Hi Jim, He gave me a 6×3 foot slab of 300yr old DF from a 5 foot round section. Not sure but a nice table top? Many other slabs to choose from are there. Going to raid the pile tomorrow & will post pic's later. I hope these kind of posts are OK with Lumberjocks, we all start our work from some source of wood. Resources like this are hard to find for most, but in the Northwest we are lucky as there are TREES left! I would like to post pictures tomorrow & ask for ideas from others here as it takes a village to build the world.

I love making turned wine bottle stoppers for gifts. If you get into that, you could make about a ba-jillion of them. :)

Nice stash of wood. Wish I had the room to store this much wood!

Did anyone tell you that teasing is not nice? lol… I have a nice stack of lumber waiting to be shaped as well, not quite as large as yours in the pic, but still, always a good feeling having some planks laying around isn't it…
Good Luck, we all look forward to future posts that show what this timber ended up being…
