Randy, That is a fancy sled. You are probably gonna outgrow it as this log slicing is addictive! I started with a sled very similar to yours and now have a monster that's over 6 feet long! I had to build a big outfeed table, buy more roller stands, etc. I don't think there is a cure for this affliction. I now want a bandmill REALLY BAD!
Yeah, I've got the 17" Grizz but I think we have the same resaw capacity. Just wait, you'll find a big log that you just HAVE to slice. Enjoy and at least send pics of some live oak!
I came home today and walked by my shop looking at all the cut up logs I have…well not all that many, and I turned on the computer and here it is….I thank Gary for the design and you for showing the blog…I know what I will be doing one day this week.
Quick question for Blackie - I just got a Grizzly G1019Z with riser and 1hp motor - will this be enough to do the same kind of re-sawing considering I have the right blade and some patience?
Kwit to answer your question, I don't know much about your saw as it's been discontinued but it has the same 1 HP mine does and you have the riser for it, I see no reason why it can't do the same thing mine does, I only use a 1/2" size blade on mine as the 14's don't like anything larger. Put a 1/2" 3 tpi timberwolf on it and go to town.
Make sure you follow my blog and this video will help as well.
The "go slow enough for the blade to do its work is key here. also blade tension and drift? And follow along. I will when I get all my shop euipment set up…......
Thanks again everyone one glad I was able to help.
Thomas You are welcome
Hey Dallas, I don't have a clue, I just build it and post it, seems like I get this a lot, what ever I'm doing it must be something right, I think it all adds up to the love and passion I have for my wood creations, I don't know maybe luck? haha
