Project Information

I made my first table!

I've always loved resin river tables, and I've used epoxy resin for art and jewelry but never on this scale before. It turned out stunning.. plenty of imperfections but I still absolutely love it.

I used East Coast Resin and a live edge walnut slab. I do electronics projects in "real life" so I couldn't help but add a bunch of LEDs underneath, controlled by a microcontroller so they slowly color-shift and animate through a rainbow.

I made a DIY build tutorial focusing on techniques for soldering together the NeoPixels and electronics to make it glow. Build tutorial: https://learn.adafruit.com/glowing-neopixel-resin-river-table

The legs are laser cut from birch plywood and stained to match the tabletop. Every time I go into my dining room I dance a little jig. Please let me know what you think!

I love mixing LEDs and woodworking and have helped my wife the glass fuser display some of her projects.

Having that table slowly, but constantly changing colors and brightness really can give a sense it is alive. Nice work!

That came out great. A very nice look. The LEDs are modern and slick, but I am more intrigued by the legs that look like they form branches. Those are awesome. Can you share closer pics of those? And describe a bit more about how you made them and how they are joined to the top?

You hit a homerun with this one. Well done, I have been kicking around trying one of these circuit playground discs. I used to work with electronics about 30 years ago and just recently stumbled across adafruit which got me thinking of trying to add some ideas into my woodworking. Wow has the world of electronics changed in 30 years…..:) Your project has inspired me. Thanks

Wow. Thank you for directing me back to the tutorial. Somehow I missed the last two pages When I looked at it the first time. They had such great details. Your work is even more impressive than the finished results, seeing the thought you put into the design and process. Very cool the way you made the skirting for the table.

Had a good laugh over your use of the cat food :) Well done.

I am sick of "River Tables"; But this is different. This is art my friend. I love all of it. I love the laser cut legs a lot. The lights are fantastic. The wood selection is outstanding. This is the Bench Mark for "River Tables".
