Workshop Information

United States
My workshop is a 10' x 12' bedroom in our basement. Needless to say, none of my tools, except for my table saw, are permanently installed. I guess you could say the table saw is not permanent either since I build a framework with wheels so it could be easily repositioned in such a small place.

I built my workbench in the shop when I was getting set up. I'm not sure the workbench could be removed from the space without being dismantled. I use both the workbench and the table saw for work space. Being in such a small room, I don't take on large projects. I stick with objects that will fit on one of my work surfaces.

The accompanying picture shows my workbench with an unfinished peg shelf that I built for a friend in Seattle.

Hi George,

I am sorry that I am just now getting around to reviewing your shop post. It does sound rather cozy but it is plenty of space to work in if you are careful about tool placement. I had a friend whose shop was 10×10. He had a table saw, planer and jointer in this space. He had them situated in a triangle and moved from one to the other. It worked for him.
