Project Information
The science bit
This box is a square anti-prism with the following properties. It's top and bottom are 108mm squares, one is rotated 45° to the other, the vertices are joined using eight equilateral triangles. It contains an octagonal liner or tray which can be placed in either half of the box allowing either the dark or light side to be the lid. The lid may also be rotated 45° to give a squarish box with bulging sides and collapsed corners.
The usual suspects
Dimensions
Box - 152mm across corners x 92mm high (wall thickness 6mm)
Liner - 95mm across flats x 80mm high (wall thickness 5mm)
Materials - Solid Rosewood and Bird's Eye Maple with Steamed Pear Liner and lipping.
Adhesives - PVA
Finish - Spray Satin Acrylic
A drawing to help make the design clearer (for the hard of thinking)
A rendered image of my original TurboCAD model
All faces of the box are flat and the wood grain follows all the way around the sides.
