Project Information

This is a Murphy Wall Bed going in the French Quarter and finished up in November 2012. The customer sketched up something and wanted the Gothic arch style doors. The were concerned with getting the arch correct. I did some research and found the formula to make the arch without having to free hand it. Here is a quick video of how I did it:

Wood/Color Choice
We used a maple wood and did a glazing technique to get more of an old world feel to the piece. It was stained using a Dark Walnut stain. The stain was sealed in with lacquer and then an Ebony stain was used as a glaze. We sprayed the glaze, wiped it off slightly, leaving it heavier on the edges. Using a dry brush we wiped out any streaks. The glaze was then seal with a couple more coats of lacquer.
