French Cleat System

Looks good. I can't think of a better way to mount just about anything in the shop. The cleat rocks.

This system works great.

I would like some more info on this, where can I find it?

I got this idea from one of the woodwisperers podcast at thewoodwhisperer.com, Basically the strips that you see have a 45 degree cut that angles back against the wall, then you just make holders for your various tools that also have a 45 degree angle on its back that fits into the rail, the strips are about 3" wide, spaced 6-8" apart. I have added some pictures of the rail and holders. Sorry I can't tell you which podcast it was, maybe the one on clamps. Hope this helps

Looks like your strips are about 1/2" against the wall… with the holders 3/4" thick…

Splashmaster - Yea I like watching his podcasts, I am about to wrap up the low entertainment center

Joe - Everything that is screwed to the wall is 1/2" ply, The holders for the individual tools vary in thickness depending on the tool that you are making a holder for. If you will look at the picture that I posted that holds the miter gauge, In hindsight I would make more material hang down for support (like the picture of the C clamps.) Hope that helps.

I like it. I put one in part of my garage over the weekend. Mainly to hold my chargers, batteries, and cordless tools… I'll be adding some more things in the coming weeks. I'll post pictures
