Project Information

Another batch of Freedom Pens for the men and women in uniform serving our country overseas.

These are a mix of Birch, Cherry, Maple, and Oak … the pen blanks come from off-falls I get by the bundle at a local cabinet shop.

For more info on the Freedom Pens project, and to get involved, see: http://www.freedompens.org

PS: These are my first attempt at using CA glue for a finish. With the lathe running, I applied a thin coat of BLO first, then immediately hit them with medium-viscosity CA. When the CA was dry, I gave them a second coat. When the 2nd coat was dry, I applied a coat of Meguiar's PlastX (clear plastic cleaner & polish) and buffed them to a shine. You can find Meguiar's PlastX at AutoZone.

Gerry… another fine batch of pens!

Have you ever thought of producing a video showing how you do it?

... I think it would be very informative…

COOL pens! As usual…

Thank you.

Joe-You flatter me! I just don't see myself as a video guy. It is not that I don't possess the skill (I was in television for 28 years and did both 16mm film and ENG work) ... I just don't feel motivated to upgrade my equipment or spend the time necessary to produce a product worth watching.
