Project Information

My girlfriend and I went to Orlando and stopped to look at some wood for the cutting board and wine butler I made for a wedding gift. She really liked this piece of cocobolo so we picked it up so I could make some out of it. I had a piece of bubinga and some curly maple so I decided as the cocobolo was thin stock I'd incorporate it into the lid of a box. This is the result. Thanks for looking.

I got around to getting a picture of the insid. I glued the cocobolo to this piece of birdseye maple.

Nice box. I'd like to see pictures of the inside, and I am wondering about how you finished it.

Thanks Sandy. I used wood conditioner because of the maple sucking up the finish like a drunken sailor on shore leave. (No offense to our naval brothers out there) Then I lightly sanded and applied spray semigloss polyurethane. As soon as the final coat dries I'll snap a picture of the inside.

Duff, I like your design and your choices of wood and finish. The pegs are a nice touch. I too would like to see the inside.

The color combo and styling are first rate Duff! The Cocobolo against the maple is a great touch, especially with the sap wood streaks.

Did anyone mention you should post a photo of the inside? 8^)
