Project Information
Yes, I know, it's another candle stick holder… What can I say, I'm on a roll! (I'll yank myself out of my comfort zone soon enough). This is the first time attempting a floating ring, this thing is about 12" long, made it out of Tigre Caspi wood - I've never heard of this kind of wood before. Believe it or not that blank was a birthday gift! I used my bowl gouge most of the time, my parting tool for the steps and the angled tool (I forgot the name) for the ring and other smoothing and design work.
The ring actually broke when I was still turning it, thankfully it broke so cleanly that I was able to glue it back together, but there is still a little ridge on one end :/. Live and learn, right? After getting everything in the shape I wanted, I padded the ring with some paper towels to finish sanding and waxing everything, I didn't use any stains.
