Last year I did a demo for the Cincinnati Woodworkers Club using the chevalet to cut a simple fleur de lis using french marquetry techniques. After the demo I had several copies of this fleur de lis motif in contrasting maple and walnut veneer. A couple of weeks ago I realized I needed a stand for my iPad, and remembered i had this marquetry already done and thought it would be perfect for this project. The stand is approx 5.5"x7x.75 and the 0.305" wide slot is cut at 22 deg about .375" deep. Finish is 3 coats of oil based poly sanded with Mirka micro pads to 4000 grit.
