Project Information

As you can see, the board is made from walnut, maple, paduck, purpleheart and yellowheart. I glued enough wood to make a additional smaller version. I used the same technique as always assembling the board (titebond 3 glue, cutting the layers and flipping every other layer and regluing, sealing with salad bowl finish, and a hot mineral/beeswax coating). After giving boards as gifts to friends and family, they convinced me to try selling some (I need a new computer). I will be going to a craft fair today to do just that. I am not sure what to charge, but I will wing it.

This is a good looking cutter. These are a lot of fun to build and, with changes in the woods and patterns, they have practically endless design possibilities. Good luck on the craft fair.

That's a good looking board. Well made. Would be interested in knowing if got what you wanted for it. I made one for a friend at work (it's posted on my page) and only charged him 50 for it.Good luck and let us know how you did.

Thanks all for the comments. The craft fair was a bust. It had rained a couple of hours before the fair started, the fairgounds lawn wasn't mowed, only half of the venders showed. I didn't see any people until noon. Everyone who looked at the cutting boards loved them, but they were not the type of people who wanted to spend more than $5 for anything. I ended up going home $40 less (table fee).
