First bowl

Project Information

I purchased a 6"x6"x3" Marblewood blank last spring and finally turned my first bowel. It's just a simple candy bowl, but I'm happy with it.

I sanded to 600 grit and finished it on lathe with my home brew version of O.B.'s shine juice. Easy peasy!

Done just in time to be under the tree on Christmas

Very nice looking bowl. Got a good laugh at the typo too "...and finally turned my first bowel" Well done on the bowl and cool wood.

Very interesting, not being familiar with Marblewood, until I read your text I thought it was another Fractal Burn. Has that look, but on steroids.

Nice bowl, thanks for posting.

Very nice work Matt. I purchased a Harbor Freight lathe earlier this year-maybe I can turn a bowl next year.

Congrats on your DT3, that should boost your confidence. Not many get a daily top 3 on their first attempt at something.

Great looking bowl! I don't see many metal lathes being used for turning wood, must be great when you want to turn threads.

I do some hobby metal working as well, but only have room for one lathe. I make no claims about being a "real" wood turner
