I do see the face, that pretty cool. I once had a piece of plywood that looked like the ultimate warrior's face paint, ha!

Beautiful platter, and yes I see the face also - with hair streaming towards the left. Call it the Spirit of the Tree. (Devil might scare people off.)

Lew… the wood is Miro a native to NZ the finish is Teak Oil.

Keith - The wood reminds me of a swamp Kauri bowl I bought in Picton (South Island) on a trip in 1999 - beautiful grain figure.
