Project Information

I'm not really sure what to call this thing. When it comes to be "finishing" time, I find that the stuff I am looking for is all over the place. When I am done, the stuff is everywhere in different places it doesn't belong. I decided to make a little tote for it. It's made from left over plywood from my sled(s) and some red oak I had hanging around. I banded the ply edges with oak, but when it came to the top edges, I had an idea. Why not put little ledges I can keep screwdrivers, nail sets and my counterboring bits. One just has holes, one has a tray routed out beause I couldn't figure out how to get a pencil to stay in a hole.

Also I wanted to play with my routers. I added a lot of flutes everywhere and went nuts with the roundover bit. It looks a little cheesy, but it's a shop fixture. The finish is some early american stain and arm r seal. I wasn't careful with it at all because again, it's a shop fixture

The fleur is general finishes milk paint and I painted it on before I stained. So far I keep my glues, sandpaper, vinyl gloves, a tape measure, wood screws, brads, needle nose pliers, tack cloths, dowels and an adjustable wrench in there. I had divider on the inside, but I took it out and now have more flexibility.

The cross cut sled with the miter fence was AWESOME! I was able to repeat all the angles very quickly and was simple to set up

I know, I am thinking the same thing now. I may make another and somehow try to make them stackable. This was a lot of fun to build

I love this after using it for a short while today. Making shop fixtures is so much fun. I can experiment with different techniques. If they come out great, awesome! If not, it's not a big deal.

Hey Joe,

(IMHO) ...you might want to think about an 'Arts and Crafts' style tote, just to get your 'Arts and Crafts' juices flowin' towards that project for your significant other. ;-)
