Project Information

This isn't a complete project, but it used to play one on TV. Recently I had to apply finish to a dozen small pegs for through tenons. They would be a pain, so I came up with pressing them to double sided tape and finishing them with great ease. I'm sure you old hands know this stuff, but thought it would be helpful to new blood. As always, bbqKing.

I like your idea. It's good to be reminded of these simple solutions. I've been pushing thumbtacks through matt board, then tapping the small wooden pieces in place so they are slightly elevated from the matt board. That way I can keep the finish from sticking to the surface beneath, but they sometimes tend to come off if I bump them too hard when staining or varnishing.

new blood here…what does the tape do? it looks like it sits on it…but then what? is it so they wont move as you brush on the finish? is that the idea?

Finishing small parts is always a problem for me and I'm glad you posted it. It's another one of those tricks that makes you say, "Why didn't I think of that?"

Good tips are always welcome, and this is a great one! I use custom color FastCaps with my cabinetry, and I use tape to hold them so I can spray them at the same time I'm spraying the cabinet parts.
