Project Information

Finally finished this box I started last summer (got side tracked by cutting boards LOL never enough time for all the bucket list items). Main box is Walnut with a Padauk trim strip @ the bottom & Padauk with Walnut laminated lid. I make the hinge pins with wooden dowels, this seems to work better for me than the metal pins, brass rods I previously used. The finish is Deft sanding sealer with a top coat of automotive clear coat, I have to admit I liked the satin looking finish after the steel wool scuff down better than the glossy finish on this one, but the automotive clear coat keeps the padauk from turining dark. The inside divider matches the lid, Padauk with Walnut laminated on the top & router round over on the edges to show both species of wood. (interior photo would not upload, sorry) I usually donate or give most of my work away but I am keeping this one for JACK. LOL Thanks for looking…...................Jack

I love it! I like to see "Andy" style boxes with a personal flair. Would have loved to have seen this last summer.

That is one of the nicest boxes I've seen! The wood combination is just spectacular. And your sculpting really showcased them.
