Project Information

Finally completed the boxes I had backlogged waiting for my sander. All are walnut & maple & I tired to take advantage of the spalted maple. The set of 3 that are pretty much the same are gifts for nieces & the one "chunky" with valet top is a gift to our son. Not sure where the others will go.

Finished with 4 coats of Arm-R-Seal - seemed to warm up the maple & bring out natural wood nicely. I was very happy to be done sanding for a while - started with 80 then 120 grit on sander than hand sanding 180, 240 & 320 using the Rhynosoft pads from Industrial Abrasives (I like that product).
Thanks for looking & to all of you that encourage me by your great work.

Well done on the boxes. I have never yet made a bandsaw box and can not wait to make one. I always figured they were to hard to make.

Arlin - the b/s boxes really are the first thing I worked on, so with minimal experience there were many oops & a few oh s**t's. Based on your work, I think you'd do very well. There's some video's if you haven't seen the "process" that are a good start. One that got me going was by Stevinmarin, woodworking for mere mortals.

eddy - Thanks. You helped me get started on them by answering several questions on your Rikon 10-325 bandsaw which led me to purchase one. Some of these were based on designs from LJ Steve.

Hawaiilad - coming from you & with the wonderful work you do… that's very nice of you to say. I have a long way to go before I match yours.

Very nice band saw boxes, I'm impress with your great work on all 8 or 10 of them. The spaulted wood sure does combine and pop with walnut. On my to do list. Both the boxes and wood combination.

Thanks all for the comments
CalgaryGeoff - I also like this wood combination, and fortunate to have a small family run saw mill 20 minutes away as my wood source. Paying $2.50 bf for finished 3 sides - nice. But I do need to start expanding into other wood combinations.

All your band saw boxes are beautifully made. Like the wood combo and spalted wood looks amazing. Love more the one with the valet top. Excellent job!
