Project Information

This is my last finished project. This is one of the results from taking a class on mixing these three elements in furniture and sculptor. I would like to start to add some texture to my work when its possible plus its just plain fun playing in mud! The wood is butternut and it really was a nice looking piece of wood but it just seemed to work better ebonized with the black concrete. You can't see it from the pictures but there is a 36" X 1/2" steel rod running through the concrete used to support the top. This little table is about 46'' long X 18" high. Thanks for looking.

Beautiful.
I love playing with concrete.

Is the concrete just one piece?

Bagtown, Yes it is just one piece with a mortice cut in the top to accept the tapered concrete.

Your stuff always amazes me man. Awesome. I know my kids would see it and want to climb all over it…think the table could handle that?

Nice build. There a lot to like here.

The design is great and your choice of material are bold.

Great work.

Nice combination of not only materials, and the placement of them, but also the forms and lines, both curved and straight, that you've included here. I am also becoming more and more a fan of mixed media pieces. Not losing any room in my heart for all-wooden pieces, just becoming more open to other options.

This piece is interesting, to say the least. I have recently contemplated moving into the experimental realm that your table occupies. Thanks for sharing your courageous design.

Now that is one well done but tough to do through tenon, combined with a very graceful shape that offsets the roughness of the base materials. I suppose you could reverse everything here with a stone top but that would be an even more difficult mortise. Nice to see someone mixing elements like this and doing it so well.
