Project Information
This is a small cherry federal table , it has holly stringing done by hand and dremel , bandings from lee valley but inlaid by small router plane and also has handcut "bellflower" inlays sand shaded in maple. overall the table is not bad. however oversanding resulting in having some issues burning through a few small spots on the table but luckily i was able to orient them all on the back. All 8 outside faces have the same inlay. I work away from home so the drawer will have to wait several weeks to be completed. This is my second table of this style. Next time i would change the way i did the sandshading as well as being a bit more careful with installing the banding and sanding. The milling of parts was done by machine but the tapered legs and final surface before finish were done by handplane. The wood is the same i used on my tool cabinet , which came from a retiring gentleman about an hour from me. I was also lucky enough to purchase a set of ln planes and chisels off of him before i lost his number… It is finished with circa 1850 tung and teak oil.
