Project Information

I knocked together a quick potato bin this week for our bumper-crop of potatoes from the garden. Nothing too special.

I made it out of ash and a small amount of cherry. I incorporated slats in the back of the bin, and the drawer, for ventilation. All the joinery was dados and Festool dominos.

I applied a black over red distressed milk paint finish. It matches our kitchen harvest table nearby.

Well from one potato bin builder to another I must say well done.

The finish is a most interesting process, I dont do anything like that with mine just a flap disk on splinters is as good as it gets !!

Here is a shot of the potato bins I repair

They hold 900 kGs of potatoes straight off the back of the B Double as it unloads them at the chip Factory

Nik,

Most of the potatoes are 3-4 inches across, which is pretty normal for the verities we grow. There are a number of smaller .5-2" ones on top because I want to use those first, as they loose moisture faster. These aren't your huge flavorless grocery store verities. These are heirloom verities grown 100% naturally. (no chemical crap)
