Project Information

Started a "Weekend Project" - a porch swing for my wife. I liken it to the "Killer Rabbit" of Monty Python fame: A seemingly easy task the proves somewhat more problematic than anticipated. Purchased the seat and accoutrements, but needed an "A" frame. The 1st, 4th, 5th, and 6th photos are the finished product. The 2nd and 3rd photos are what I had at the end of the 1st weekend. EPIC FAIL, to use the modern vernacular. After reviewing my handiwork, I sucked down a beer, went through a fit of depression (I was now out of beer!), then went back to work. I am somewhat more pleased with the finished product (two weeks later). Built completely with pressure-treated decking lumber, stained (Dark Walnut), and finished with Spar Varnish to protect it from the elements. Installed the legs at a 15 degree angle rather than the more popular 18 degrees to make a smaller footprint. Now I just need to install the sound system, LED lighting, personal refrigerator, and, of course, the ejection seat. Thanks for looking. Comments welcome.

Ya, some of our most simple projects can turn and whoop our hineys over and over and over and over again. I can think of many times where an "oh that's an easy thing to do" turned into "just make it all go away!!!!!!" At least you had beer, all I have at hand are hammers….and everyone knows how I am with those.
