Project Information

This is a quick project (3 days-that's quick for me). Hubby recently started getting his eye meds from the VA. Well they didn't have the combination form so that meant two bottles instead of one. I tend to be easily distract…SQUIRREL!

Where was I? Oh yes! Two bottles instead of one. You have to wait between the different drops or you're just wasting the second one since the eyes can't absorb that much medicine that quickly. I'd forget to do the second drop or forget which one I'd already done…you get the idea.
The caddy is made of a few pieces of walnut cut offs. The base is 1 1/4"x1/2"x6" long. I originally prepared a back then changed to a center post type handle. The holes were drilled with a 1" forstner bit. I had the bottles in the shop at this point to be sure they fit. They were back in the house when I switched to the T handle idea. Therefore the handle is too short. I used the wood burner to burn "A" and "P" in the holes so I can keep better track.
I may re-do at some point. Things to do differently: make the holes deeper(may require thicker stock); make the handle taller. Thanks for looking and commenting.

Looks nice, Candy. Deeper holes would work…but so would a lil box with tiny dovetail joints! :)

I assume the A and P are before and after?

That is not a bad thing….

Have to agree with John Hutchinson. Turn the handle, or make it taller. Nice that you are doing your part to care for your hubby.

It's nice that you're looking for ways to improve everyday life, and to incorporate your woodworking in that goal! If it were me, I'd probably build a new one, utilizing the ideas here, and keep this one as a backup, or as the travel version. That way it will be your prototype version, yet still have a function!

So that is why I can't find that piece of walnut! Can't turn my back on the old battle axe or she will steal me blind. Then she has the gall to show the world her ill gotten goods. Well her birthday is coming up in a few days, so I might just have to make her something to show how much I appreciate her. (Cue evil laughter. ) Nice job BOB.

I tried, John. It's glued in solid! Great idea, though. One of those trees/forest kinda things.
Thanks, Chris. I try.
Thank you, Joe.
Thanks, Terry. "a lil box with tiny dovetail joints! :)" My version took 3 days, Terry. Your version would take me…longer. A lot longer! :) No nursing abbreviations here, just AM and PM.
Thanks, Grizz. Actually there are two coats of Rustoleum High Luster Lacquer on it. There is a stripe of sap wood that runs across the front. The handle is the darkest part and is what most would envision when thinking of walnut.

Dr. Ken, thanks for commenting. see above responses to John and Chris. :)

Hahaha, Mike, I have done that in the past too! Being a nurse, I called it a M.A.R.(medication administration record)! Glad you like it and thanks for commenting.
