Project Information

Whilst working on this piece, I had the Dodger game on the radio. I hear a noise above. I steps out of the dungeon and there's this, on its way to the stadium. It's not often I get to take a good picture of it.

On with the show and tell.

This was a chunk of Mulberry I picked up off the floor and ruminated upon momentarily.

A little cutting, a little scraping. Another one of those "don't-care-what-comes-of-it" things; I'm just working on my chops to avoid doing nothing. Maebees it wants to be a Wing-ed Thing.

A little more cutting and scraping. A little CA. Pin jaws have to go there without splitting it apart.

A little polishing.

A little getting too close to the other side.

A little more polishing and a little shellac.

And, for all my trouble, the Dodgers lost. Bunch of losing losers.

Interesting piece Mark, one of the best things about turning is not knowing what will come off the lathe.
Nice shot of the blimp.

Nice turning with the natural edge, Mark.
You should see the new Goodyear blimp. It was at Oshkosh. It has big aircraft engines on it and and it can really move and it can tilt at 30 degrees off horizontal. It also has a big video display screen and looks real cool at night. They had it running with the American flag on it at night when the Lt Dan band was playing .

cheers, Ji

Neat little whimsical piece. But somehow as I looked at your pictures, it brought this to mind :)

Extra points if you know what movie this was from

That is a pretty cool chunk of mulberry! I wish more of them grew in Colorado. I have never seen a good year blimp. They just don't travel through Laporte. My question for JoeinGa is whether or not HG wells would know what movie that was from?

You've never seem a Goodyear Blimp? That's just sad, John. they fly right over my neighborhood fairly often. As do all the big airliners that come either from overseas or up the coast, on their way to LAX.
