Project Information

This is either wall art or I will put it on a stand, when I get the stand ideas solidified in my noggin..I was going to make it with a bowl in the center, but this was an exhausting piece to make, and I just yanked it off the lathe . It could go back on, another day, after I get some rest. Made from a piece of 4/4 poplar lumber about 9 1/2 inches in diameter. Hope you enjoy

Not to take a thing away from your previous perfect, symmetrical pieces, which are all exquisite, but I really like where these last couple are heading. They seem more … organic I guess.
I do know that I really like them.

I love the organic shapes you've incorporated in this. Sometimes you have to take a break from a piece to finish it right.

yep, I just got plum-tuckered out and took it off the lathe & said- good enuf for today!...This was a very exhausting piece to make. Hopefully it won't take me too long to decide what to do, or not to do…I'd love to use a sandblaster on stuff like this, to make it more organic, but I've researched it and one needs a 5hsp compressor to push the grit..that's out of my league $$$$-wise. Boo!

Turning that must have been dicey as heck. Looks like you could put a clock blank in that, but I tend to see clocks in everything lately.
